Modern Technology

Just over a week since we picked up the new car it is now back at Stone Acre Hyundai, Sheffield to be plugged in. That's modern technology for you as there is nothing we can do to check if there is a genuine problem or not. It needs to go back to the dealer for diagnosis.

It is something and nothing. The stop start isn't working. Now we probably won't even use it. But we have bought the car on the understanding that everything is working as it should so it has gone back for them to have a look. And while they are at it they can do a couple of little bits we have found as we have looked around the car. Nothing major but all bits that want sorting out.

On the subject of modern technology we have caved in and finally bought a Firestick for the smart TV. This cheap TV has turned into an expensive purchase!

  1. Out of interest why did you have to buy a firestick? We purchased a bigger smart LG TV prior to Xmas, but had no end of bother connecting it to the WiFi and for it to remember the WiFi everytime the smart services were selected...really infuriating! It seems to be ok now, since altering certain settings as suggested via forums. Thrilled to bits with it now, and it has a much better picture quality as opposed to our Samsung 43" smart curved TV which is now in use in the conservatory, but relocating that came with problems..had to purchase bloody WiFi extenders for it to work properly!

  2. Because we can't get on with the software installed on the Sharp 4k TV we have got!

It isn't very user friendly. Plus with the TV being 4k we wanted the option to watch more programmes in 4k which this third generation stick will give us the option to do.

    1. I see, I didn't know if you were having problems. My mum purchased a smart LG TV about 2-3 yrs ago, and as I understand it LG didn't have all the licences to provide full catch up services on all the main channels, so she only has iPlayer and demand 5. I assumed you could get the additional services by either downloading them or by an update on the TV, but this is not the case as they were pre programmed on the set. Very infuriating, which means she has to either upgrade TV or go down the road you have with the stick. XX

    2. The Sharp is similar and only has a couple installed. We have decided that the stick is the easiest way around it plus it gives us 4k viewing options.

As you say infuriating to say the least.

  3. Interesting, i had a problem with my Hyundai and took it back for investigation, transpires I had not read handbook properly!. If it has Sat Nav fitted you can combine your mobile phone (or in my case mobile modem) and this and it will give warning of speed cameras.

  4. It doesn't have the sat nav integrated. Not a problem though as we use the maps on our phones and just Bluetooth it to the car. Works a treat and gives speed camera warnings. We both have unlimited mobile data though. Imagine this is a bit data hungry.

We have read the car handbook cover to cover and can't find what if anything we are doing wrong.
