This morning we have been stocking up on a few essentials to take with us to Brittany. The oddity amongst them was some cases of Coors Light. Yes you got that. We are taking drink to France.
Now there is a very good reason for this. On our first day of hire, Saturday, we have an early pick up for the boat at 11am. The first lock that we will navigate is just around the corner from the boat yard but closes for lunch at 12.30pm with the last boat admitted before lunch at 12.10pm. So we need to get our gear on the boat, get the paperwork sorted and get through that lock in double quick time, otherwise we have a two hour wait for it to reopen. So we won't have time to be heading to the super market in Guipry on the way past with the car.
What we can do however once through the lock is moor up on the town quay and use the local shops by the quayside to stock up with food. The walk back from the supermarket would be too far with the beer in hand which is why it has made more sense to take some cases with us.
Tonight we have the job of loading up the car. Yesterday Liam put the new wheels and tyres on and they do look much better. Far more sporting and they somehow tone down the yellow of the car already. It will look different again with it's bonnet stripes and roof cheques, but they can wait until we get back from France of course.
