We have decided for this long bank holiday weekend that it is about time we headed upstream on the Trent and beyond Cromwell Lock for the first time in a couple of years.
We are not sure why but we have not been upstream through Cromwell since 2015. We seem to be spending more time at West Stockwith or staying on the tidal Trent at both Dunham Bridge and High Marnham.
Liam is working tomorrow, but in return he gets Tuesday off work instead. This works fine for us as it means we miss the mad rush for the lock at Torksey on Good Friday and coming the other way on Easter Monday. I have the day off tomorrow so we have decided that we will head across to the marina this evening with some diesel and other essential supplies and then I can spend the day tomorrow at the marina ensuring that Naughty-Cal is spick and span and ready for the off as soon as Liam gets back from work. We will probably head to Torksey on Friday evening even though our lock through isn't while gone midday on Saturday. It will give us a chance to have a bit of a lie in and have a relaxed breakfast before setting off.
Keep a lookout for us on our brand new (picked up from Jonathan Wilson's yard last Friday) NB Oleanna. We're due out of Keadby at 7:30 on Saturday morning hoping to make Cromwell in one go. But if we're running out of tide we might give up at Torksey.

We should see you then. We are coming out of Torksey at about 12.30pm.
ReplyDeleteIf you see us moored up please feel free to pop across for a drink.
Will do, and ditto!
ReplyDeleteWe will. I want a gander at your new boat. She looks stunning.
