Norfolk & Suffolk 2016 - Part 6

Day Eleven
Southwold to Wells next the Sea
75 Miles

 Leaving Southwold.

 One last fleeting glance.

 Cruising by Scroby Sands.

 Along the Norfolk coast.

 Heading into Wells.

Liam getting in the Wells spirit already.

 Into the harbour we go.

Day Twelve
Wells next the Sea - A day of rest
40 litres diesel @ 86ppl.

The anchor recovered from the bar.

 Lovely morning in Wells.

 Looking out to sea.

 The twins together again.

A walk along the harbour footpath.

 Looking back at the town.

Wells lifeboat getting some fresh air.

Walk along the coastal path to Holkham.

 Lovely pub in the village.

 Lovely estate.

The walk back through the estate to Wells next the Sea.

 Last evening in Wells.

Day Thirteen
Wells next the Sea to Boston
36 miles 1 lock.

 Leaving Wells behind.

Despite appearances in this picture the sea was pretty bumpy for the first hour and we were forced to cruise at displacement speeds.

Back safe on the tidal Witham.

All of the fishing fleet were heading out.

 Cruising back through Boston.

Back on the non tidal Witham.

A good curry was in order to calm the nerves after a fraught afternoon at sea.

 Another day over.

Day Fourteen
Boston to Langrick Bridge.
4 Miles.

 Bye Boston.

Witham and Blues for another nice meal. The boys just cant resist messing about!.

Day Fifteen
Langrick Bridge to Woodhall Spa to Washingborough
24 Miles 1 Lock
178 litres diesel @ 81ppl

Heading back upstream through Tattershall Bridge.

A brief pit stop at Woodhall Spa for a few pints in the Mall and a spot of shopping.

The station house by the side of the river.

 Cruising on once more.

Our intended stop at Bardney was full so we cruised on to Washingborough. I have to say it was worth the extra miles as the food in The Ferry Boat at Washingborough was second to none.

Day Sixteen
Washingborough to Lincoln to Torksey
15 Miles 1 Lock.

 On the outskirts of Lincoln.

 Cruising through Lincoln centre.

 Back on the Fossdyke.

 Heading to Torksey.

Cracking BBQ to finish off the holiday.

Having said goodbye to Nitty Gritty it was time to head back towards home.

Cheer up Liam. Not long until we are away again.
