It’s all systems go at the minute rushing around trying in
vain to get both Naughty-Cal and ourselves ready to go away at Easter.
Despite
having had longer than usual this year to get ready due to being out of the water much earlier than usual and Easter being later than usual, it has, as ever, crept up on
us and we have just two weekends left.
Whilst the to do list is most definitely smaller than it was
this time a couple of months ago it is still larger than we would like it to be
so close to the start of the busy summer cruising season.
With just two
weekends to go the list is looking like this:
- · Clean canopies
- · Apply Fabsil to canopies
- · Change supercharger oil
- · Clean engine bay
- · Replace carpets to saloon and galley areas
- · Replace shower room taps
- · Replace shower hose
- · Replace shower waste pipe
This coming weekend we hope to get the canopies cleaned and
reproofed, the supercharger oil changed and the engine bay cleaned which should
half the list but still leaves plenty to be going at during the last weekend.
The new carpet is ordered and due for delivery on Monday. We
have opted for a slightly darker coffee colour in readiness for the
chocolate leather re-trim in the saloon, but also as cream carpet was just not
practical on a boat. It was impossible to keep clean, being 80% wool didn’t
help matters either hence why we have opted for 100% synthetic this time which
should be much harder wearing and easier to keep clean. The plan is to use the
old carpets as templates and cut the new pieces at home during next week,
leaving just the gluing in to do on Saturday.
It’s a long shot but we may yet get there just in time. With
this little lot of jobs completed we should have Naughty-Cal ready for a long
season of cruising. Which will hopefully, after all of our hard work this
winter, prove to be relatively trouble free. I say relatively because let’s
face it, boat ownership is never 100% trouble free for a whole year!
