A Busy Weekend Ahead

This coming weekend is going to be one heck of a busy weekend. We have many small jobs to do and one rather much larger and messier job to look forward too. But first we will be spending Friday evening in Lincoln Boat Club. We have not been for a while now so it will be good to catch up with people again.

Come Saturday we will be heading back to the marina to start the multitude of jobs. The big and messy job is changing the toilet for a new one. The current one is ten years old now and beginning to show its age. The toilet seat is wobbly and won’t tighten up and the seals need replacing. The cost of the replacement parts was within pounds of the price of a brand new loo which is the newer model as well. It was a no brainer really, replacement it is.

Whilst the toilet is out the shower room can be given a good polish and the sealer can be resealed to give the room a new fresh look. The only downside is that we will be without a loo onboard on Saturday night as we wait for the sealer to go off. A night in the marina it is then so that we have facilities close to hand. To complete the fresh new look we will also be treating Naughty-Cal to a new shower curtain.

Another job on the list is fitting a gas strut to the engine bay lid. The lid is currently held in place with a manual stay but newer models of the S23/25 have a gas strut. Liam has wanted one for a while so as Naughty-Cal behaved so impeccably during the last two weeks it seemed like the perfect chance to treat both the boat and Liam, plus it was a cheap modification, so why not?

We collected quite a lot of bilge water during our two week cruise thanks to a cracked shower sump lid so the last job on the list is wet vaccing this out and cleaning the bilges and engine bay. Whilst the wet vac is at the boat we will also clean the engine and make the whole bay look spick and span again, as it is currently covered in belt dust, the KAD32 is a real belt shredder of an engine.

Hopefully once this little lot is finished we should have chance to take a short cruise locally, Naughty-Cal will be getting bored after a week of no activity! We will stick another 60 or so litres of diesel in the fuel tank to make inroads into refilling it again before the August bank holiday weekend. It should hopefully only need another 40 or so litres before the bank holiday to see the tank brimmed again.
