Time to Head Home

Sadly our time in Scotland has come to an end and we have to head home today. We have had a brilliant couple of days but it is time to head south again today.

Sunny Edinburgh

Family Time

We have had a lovely day in Scotland first at the Nielson show and then on the coast at Irvine.

Heading North

We will be shortly heading North of the border. The dog is walked, the car is full of fuel now all we need is for Liam to finish work and we can set off.

Up and Down

It has been a week of trudging up and down the M1 for me this week with work and various site visits. Tomorrow will be no different as we are heading North once more on the M1 after work and heading to Scotland, where for once the weather promises to be sunny and relatively warm. 

In fact if the forecast is right it will be warmer this weekend then any days we had in the 17 days we were up there last July!

Fingers crossed for that.

Tonight we have a visit planned to our new favourite local shop, The Little Sausage Shop to pick up our weekly supplies of sausage, pork patties, eggs and diary products from the local dairy Our Cow Molly. Hopefully there is some more ice cream for us as well. It is the best ice cream by far.

Sods Law Again

Another bank holiday weekend and the weather looks set to be getting milder, well about time too we are in May now but looking out of the window you could be forgiven for mistaking it for March!

But yet again we will not be having the long weekend on the boat. This time we are making the long journey up North and over the border into bonny Scotland.

For this long weekend we will be visiting Liam's mum in the lovely village of Lugton about 8 miles outside of Glasgow and about 10 miles from the lovely coastal town on Irvine.

Dog Mods

As Sydney got on so well on the boat at the weekend we have now turned our attention to how we can make a few little modifications to make life on board a bit easier with the mutt.

First and perhaps most important will be making up a lead which is permanently fixed at the helm to stop Sydney jumping off whilst we are mooring up and setting off. He has a habit of trying to follow us off the boat which for his own safety needs to be stopped. At least with him tethered at the helm we know where he is at all time. He is fine padding around while we are on the move as we can keep an eye on him.

Next up we really do need to get him a doggy life jacket, especially if we are going to spend our summer holiday on the Trent. We don't yet know if he can swim well but just to make it easier to get him out when he does fall in we will get him a life jacket and get him used to wearing it.

Then we need to get him a smaller crate for use on the boat. He is starting to get used to his larger one at work now and will go in it of his own accord now. With this in mind we are looking to get a smaller fold down one we can use on the boat which will hopefully mean at some point in the future that we can leave him on board for a couple of hours while we go out. But there is no rush to get to that point just yet and we will let him settle in, in his own time.
