Good Food

We both enjoyed a nice meal at the Ferry Boat last night. Liam had a nice run eye steak with all the trimmings and I opted for the fish and chips which was more like whale and chips when it arrived!

Today we will have a steady run back to Lincoln before heading back to the marina. We have had a change of plan as our guests can't make it today so we will probably eat at Woodcocks tonight to round off the weekend.

Onwards

Today we have moved on to Washingborough where we are booked into The Ferry Boat for a meal this evening.

This is the first time in a while that we have dropped down onto the Witham and our first work out lock for a long time.

We are getting lazy!

Let it Begin

Let the weekend begin. First stop The Electric Bar for cocktails.

You have got to love taking your accommodation with you in a night out in town. No taxis to worry about later.

For The Weekend

We have started looking towards what we are going to do this weekend,. Well we already know what we will be doing on Sunday as we have some special guest coming along with us, but we can't say too much about that as they might be reading!

We are thinking that a night out in Lincoln tomorrow evening might make a nice start to the weekend. I need to be in Lincoln bright and early on Saturday as I have an appointment for my hair cutting so it makes sense to spend the night down there and have a few beers and a bite to eat.

On Saturday after a morning in town we will head back to the marina and get the boat tidied up and give her a good scrub ready for our guests on Sunday. We have a voucher for some money off at the Woodcocks pub on the marina so we may just end up in there on Saturday evening for dinner.

Back to Normality

Christmas and New Year's are now well and truly over, the Christmas cheese mountain is finally finished, the last of the chocolate was finished last night and the beer situation is back to normal again. Time to get back to some sort of normality again.

We have both put on more then a few pounds over the festive period so it is time to start back on the healthy eating and more exercise plan which was so successful for us this time last year. We both want to be back down to fighting weight by the time we go away at Easter which should be more then achievable with a steady pound or so lost each week.

We made a steady start to getting back into the routine last week with starting to take salad boxes to work for dinner again, slowly weaning ourselves back into the healthier meals in the evenings but still with a supplement of chocolate as we watched the TV for an hour in the evening. With that now gone the pounds should start to come off again. Well fingers crossed they will anyway.

A Little Run Out

As we had to go home on Sunday we decided that we would make a day of it and first up headed to Meadowhall for some new shoes but instead came out with a new chopping board and a knife block and then after a quick pit stop at home we decided to have a run out to Hadfield near Glossop where they filmed the TV series The League of Gentlemen.

It isn't too far from our house and makes for a lovely run across the Snake Pass and it would have been rude not to call into one of our favourite pubs on the way back.

Timing it Right

The ever trusty Datsun has gone to the mechanics this morning for her new timing chain fitting. We knew the day would eventually come when it needed replacing, it was already well over the mileage when most become troublesome, in fact some Almera's had issues with the chain from nearly new so it has not done bad to stretch itself out, quite literally, to 143k miles.

It has been a difficult decision to make as to whether to spend the money getting the car fixed or to put that money towards a different car. It isn't the cheapest of repairs, but we have decided that we know the car quite well, well we should do we have had it for going on 13 years, and it has recently had a new clutch, new tyres and new brakes all round. So it was worth it to us to get it fixed.

Hopefully she will be running good as new again in a couple of days time.
