Safari Chef

At the weekend a friend of ours got out his Cadac Safari Chef so that we could have an outdoor breakfast. We were very impressed with this piece of kit, so much so that we have decided that we really should get one ourselves. So tonight we are heading to Go Outdoors to hopefully pick one up.

The Cada Safari Chef is essentially a small portable gas BBQ but thanks to its many attachment and plate options it can also be used as an over, pizza oven, grill, wok and most other cooking surfaces you could conjour up.

Now as regular readers will already know we are not blessed with a choice of cooking options on Naughty-Cal so the Cadac will open up a range of other meals that we can cook by the riverside with the added bonus of keeping the cooking smells and spitting fat out of the boat.

Now of course this will only be of any use when the weather is suitable to cook outdoors. So no doubt we have just let us all in for a wet and windy summer ahead as we plan to do most of this years cooking outdoors!

Sorry everyone!

  1. We use our Weber in all weathers, it's nice to have extra cooking methods, and should be ok as I am sure will be a quality product. I am toying with the idea of getting an Instant Pot (pressure cooker) for home, but need to be sure I will use it as cost is about £100 xx

  4. From what we have seen of it it is very good quality and it folds away into a very compact bag. Ideal for our small boat. We already carry spare gas so can use that to power it.

I'm looking forward to alfresco cooking a roast dinner. Sad I know!

    1. Not sad at all, I personally prefer to cook on the boat, we are always arguing about if we are eating out or not xx

  5. Not sad at all. I used to feel so restricted by the 2 rings and an indifferent grill in our campervan. The saddest cooking thing that I have ever seen was on Bournemouth sea front on a boiling hot Sunday lunch time. A couple in their late 70s, if not into their 80s, with a beach hut. Him sitting in an armchair outside watching the sea, and the world go by. Her coming out to serve him a full roast dinner that she had clearly been slaving over inside for ages. Not my idea of a day by the sea.

  6. I love cooking even when we go away I cook us some great meals. The slow cooker helped on the boat a lot with this but the Cadac will give us even more options.

It will be ideal for us to take to Cornwall and Norfolk later in the year as well.
