Torksey Lock Log Jam

Following last weeks big tides, there is now a bit of a log jam in Torksey Lock cut in front of the downstream gates. The large tides have managed to flush the debris from the river banks, into the river where the combination of the wind and the tide has pushed it into the cut and onto the gates.

It might not look bad in the picture but there are some very large chunks of tree milling around in that little lot.

On Saturday afternoon the decision was taken to shut the lock after a few boats had come through on safety grounds. Whether this was a wise move or not can be debated until the cows come home, but it also remained shut for much of yesterday. However we do know that it must have been reopened at some point as a few boats who had spent the weekend at Farndon Marina made it home to Burton Waters yesterday evening.

As and when updates become available I will post them.
