A Sunny Weekend

It has been a lovely weekend so we have made the most of it with lots of walks for Sydney.

We had a run across to the boat yesterday to turn off the heating and also to turn off the frost heaters in the cabin. We will leave the engine bay heater on for a little longer yet.

On the way home we called in at Clumber Park to let Sydney run off some steam.

A Bit Soggy

We had a few hours to kill yesterday and we needed to take Sydney out for his afternoon walk so we combined the two with a visit to a very soggy Castleton. The amount of water coming off the hills was awesome to see. Perhaps not so much if you live in the waterside properties though!

Good As Gold

It has been a busy week from start to finish and little Sydney has been good as gold for us, even when we were busy decorating and didn't have time to play our usual after work games with him. He saw that we were busy and entertained himself until we were finished for the evening.

Hopefully this weekend we will have a bit more time to spend with him and perhaps we will be able to take him somewhere nice. Although the weather doesn't look great for Saturday it looks much better for Sunday so perhaps a trip out somewhere is in order.

Who knows it might even be a celebratory trip.

The Waiting Game

With the valuations and surveys carried out at home yesterday it is now a waiting game to wait for the results to come in. We doubt we will hear anything today but we should get a phone call on Friday.

Cleaning Up

This morning I have been busy scrubbing the house from top to bottom and getting it ready to show to a whole host of people today.

It has never looked so good!

Decorating Dash

It has been one big push to get some jobs and decorating done at home prior to the part exchange surveyors and valuers coming tomorrow. Fingers crossed they appreciate the hard work as it has been a tiring few days.

Just the last finishing touches to put together this evening before the barrage of people inspect it tomorrow!

Busy Times Ahead

Sorry for the silence over the weekend but we have been exceptionally busy and that is not set to stop this week so I do apologise now if there are not many blog posts this week!

A Toss Up

It was a bit of a toss up this morning as to whether we were going to the boat or staying at home. We have to be in Gateford for 11am in the morning which is easily achievable from either home or the boat.

In the end we decided that as we would be out for most of the day looking at houses and exploring the vicinity we wouldn't get anything done on the boat anyway this weekend, so we may as well stay at home.

It is just that bit easier having the dog at home and not having to get him up and down ladders. So tonight we will be staying in with a few beers, a pizza and a film.

Uncertain Times

With our house now looking the best it has since we moved in way back in 2007 we are now looking at moving on. Isn't that always the way?

This weekend we are going to view a few new build houses at Gateford Park near Worksop. The developers have some great deals on at the moment during these uncertain economic times and with their year end fast approaching they are also keen to get some more sales on the books so this could be as good a time as any we are likely to get to move on.

We don't need a big house, there are only the three of us. So we are looking at the three bedroom detached plots that they have on offer. Two of which are built so we could get even more incentive on these if we like either of them.

We are booked in to view them at 11am on Saturday morning so fingers crossed something takes our fancy.

Pancake Bake

It was of course pancake day yesterday so we had a chilli pancake bake for dinner. This is like enchilladas but made with pancakes and rolled up with a slow cooked 5% steak mince chilli. Topped with grated reduced fat mature cheddar and baked for 20 minutes.

It was delicious.

Thanks Fishermen

We knew that we had some fishing line in the shafts and through the oil seals when we pulled the boat out of the water but we didn't expect it to be quite as bad as it was.

A Few Bits Done

We managed to get a couple of jobs done this weekend and we have routed the cables for the sonar through the boat.

We have a few parts to order this week ready for next weekends work session.

We did find time to go out on Saturday night with friends for a Thai meal.

Getting Stuck In

We have made a start on the boat to do list today.  First up was draining the drive oil which unveiled a mass of fishing line in the oil seals and very water contaminated oil. Not a great start.

Thankfully fitting the new transducer went much better with the cable threaded through to where the sonar module will be installed and the transducer mounted on the transom.

Not a bad days work. Now we are relaxing with a quick drink and will shortly be walking to the Pyewipe for some dinner.

On The Boat

This evening we have made the journey across to the marina so that we can start work on the boat bright and early in the morning.

I think Sydney was glad to be back onboard. He has surveyed every inch to check all is in place and is no snuggled up in his usual spot on the back seat.
